“Agriculture is the Most Healthful, Most Useful and Most Noble Employment of Man” – George Washington
Our “Beaver Creek Natural Farm” is located in Tatamagouche, NS. Our natural farm is a shared dream of the duo Sathish Thangavel and Uma Mahalingam. We relocated to Canada in search of a better work-life balance and a healthier way of life.from an agricultural family, we wanted to continue and cascade our farming tradition to the future generation and our beloved community. It is important for us to be self-sustaining like our forefathers. We are proud to call ourselves farmers and to be growing good food for our community.
We farm because growing good food for our community makes sense. We strongly believe that our work should be meaningful and contribute something positive to the world of humans and nature. We want to grow and share our experience of farming with everyone. We want to be an essential part of our community. We want to feed people who we know and love. and to pass down the family tradition to our kids. Most importantly, we learned so much from our parents and grandparents, and we want to honour them by building our farm in Nova Scotia.
We are growing what we love to eat. Every crop we grow will be natural and organic at the very least. Ours is a small-scale farm, and we grow more Asian varieties like gourds, amaranthus, okra, moringa, etc. We are excited to experiment with Asian vegetables in Nova Scotian weather and soil.
We are passionate about sustainable farming, and we are planning to grow all our produce using organic practices. We believe economically and socially sustainable agriculture creates access to healthy food for all and prioritizes people and communities over corporate interests.
